Fire Extinguisher Supply, Servicing & Maintenance — Professional, Compliant & BAFE Accredited
Fire extinguishers are a vital first line of defence in any fire safety strategy. When correctly selected, installed and maintained, they help control or suppress small fires before they escalate — protecting people, property and business continuity. It’s not just best practice: in the UK, portable fire extinguisher provision and maintenance are required as part of your legal fire safety duties.
What Fire Extinguishers Do
A fire extinguisher is a portable fire-fighting tool that allows trained users to tackle small fires in their early stages. Different types of extinguishers are designed for different classes of fire — for example:
Water extinguishers for Class A fires involving solid materials like wood, paper and textiles.
CO₂ extinguishers for flammable liquids and electrical fires.
Foam, dry powder and wet chemical extinguishers for other specific fire risks across commercial and industrial settings.
Selecting the right type, size and location of extinguishers depends on your building’s fire risk profile — something we assess as part of a fire risk assessment.
Legal Requirements & Standards
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, your premises must have appropriate fire extinguishers readily visible and accessible at all times. It’s typically recommended that a minimum of two Class A extinguishers per floor are provided while the responsible person should ensure coverage for all identified fire hazards.
Fire extinguisher servicing and maintenance must comply with British Standard BS 5306, which sets out best practice for commissioning, inspection, servicing and maintenance of extinguishers.
Supply & Installation
We supply a full range of British-standard fire extinguishers perfectly matched to your premises and fire risks. All units come with recognised EN3 approvals and the British Standard Kitemark, giving you confidence in quality and performance.
Our supply and installation service includes:
Site survey and risk-based extinguisher specification
Correct selection and positioning to BS 5306-8 guidelines
Professional commissioning and placement
Clear signage and instructions for visibility and accessibility
Servicing & Maintenance
Fire extinguishers must be regularly maintained to remain effective and compliant with legislation and British Standards. Servicing includes:
Annual basic service by a competent technician — a legal requirement under BS 5306-3.
Monthly visual checks by your responsible person to ensure gauges, seals and condition are intact.
Extended servicing and overhaul at longer intervals (e.g., every five or ten years depending on extinguisher type).
Documentation and maintenance records to support compliance, audits and insurance.
Regular servicing helps ensure your extinguishers will operate effectively in an emergency and remain legally compliant throughout their life.
BAFE Accreditation — Confidence You Can Depend On
As a BAFE-accredited fire safety provider, we are independently assessed for competency, quality and service standards across fire safety disciplines — including fire extinguisher supply, servicing and maintenance. This means you can trust that our work:
Meets recognised best practice standards
Is delivered by trained and competent technicians
Supports your legal obligations as the responsible person
BAFE accreditation is widely respected by enforcing authorities, insurers and clients as a benchmark of quality and competence in fire safety services.
